Finding the Best College for You
There are over 200 colleges in California, plus hundreds more outside of California. How will you decide which college is best for you? You'll want to consider a number of factors when choosing a college. A few things to think about:
- Majors/Academic Programs
- Location
- Size
- Cost (including financial aid and scholarships)
- Clubs & Activities
- Support Services
- Athletics
- Housing
Make sure you do your research. Start out by talking to your Guidance Counselor and checking out college websites. CaliforniaColleges.edu is a great online resource. The site includes a college search feature, a high school planner, financial aid information, links to online applications, and more. If you haven't already created an account, be sure to start one now!
Also, don't be afraid to call the Admissions and Financial Aid offices at each school. Try to talk to a current student at each school that you're considering. As you narrow down your options, try to visit your top choices in person. Most importantly, don't wait until the end of your senior year to start thinking about college!
